Pastor's Biography

Pastor Christopher Martin Sr. was born in Chicago, Illinois to Mother Lee E. Martin.  He was saved at an early age.  In 1996, he accepted his call to ministry and started preaching the gospel.  Pastor Martin loved the Lord and worked diligently in the church, serving in various capacities.  He had a love & passion for young people in which  led him to run and be elected in 1997 to the Flint School Board, serving as the youngest African-American ever elected in Flint, MI.

 

Pastor Christopher Martin Sr. attended the University of Michigan-Flint where he met his best friend, Felicia.  Pastor Martin and his lovely wife were married in 1999. Pastor and Lady Martin are proud graduates of the University of Michigan.

 

Pastor Martin was licensed as an ordained Elder in August 2000.  After serving on Flint School Board for several years, he became elected as the President of the Flint Board of Education, serving for 2 years in this capacity.

 

Pastor’s Martin love and vision for young people transcended beyond his community.  In 2005, Bishop P.A. Brooks of the Northeast Michigan Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, appointed him as State Youth President.  On January 13, 2008, Pastor Martin opened the Cathedral of Faith Ministries Church of God in Christ.  In 2009, the late Bishop Marvin C. Pryor, of the Michigan Southwest 3rd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ, appointed him as District Superintendent of the Faith District.

 

In 2009, Cathedral of Faith moved into their current facility, an 80,000 square ft. edifice, which houses a gymnasium, offices, 7-10 acres of land, a 350 seat sanctuary, YMCA Safe Place, and a fully accredited Head Start Pre-school with an enrollment of over 100 students.

 

In 2013, Pastor Martin was appointed Chairman of the Board of Superintendents under the leadership of Bishop J. Drew Sheard of the North Central Michigan Jurisdiction of The Church of God in Christ. In 2014, Bishop Sheard appointed him to the Position of Administrative Assistant.  In 2016, he was elected to the National Board of Trustees of the Church of God in Christ.  The Lord has His hand on this man of God. 

 

Pastor Martin has three children, Elder Cameron Martin, Chris Martin Jr. (C.J.), and Lauren Martin.
